Freeze Frame for Jewellery Photography

Specifically for displaying jewellery suspended in mid air

The Freeze Frame is another innovation unique to TableTop Studio. It is designed specifically for photographing jewellery so as to make the jewellery seem to be suspended in mid air. It is easy to use and suitable for use beginner and professional alike.

The Freeze Frame can be used inside an EZcube or with one of our Kuhl Lites (see examples of set up below).

The Freeze Frame can be used inside an EZcube or with one of our Kuhl Lites.

When used with an EZcube (above left), light from both sides using our Two Lights Set. If you use the front cover on the EZcube, you will have a small amount of reflection on the jewellery. This can be useful in adding depth. If you prefer no reflections, then try using the front cover. You may find the result too dull or flat, but some people prefer this. It is just a matter of personal preference. Try both and see which you prefer.

The set up to the left shows a ring suspended in the Freeze Frame. This is lit with a single Kuhl Lite with Diffuser Cover and the camera is mounted on a Horizontal Tripod. This enables the camera to shoot downwards. The White Freeze Frame Background is laying flat on the table behind the Black Frame so that the camera is shooting down towards the White Background and the ring appears to be in front of it. When you choose not to use an EZcube, there may be undiffused reflections of dark items in the surroundings. The White Fill Card is used to "fill" the dark areas with reflective light. The Fill Card should directly face the light source. So in this set up, the Fill Card is facing the Kuhl Lite. If you want to change the reflected light on the jewellery, you can move the Fill Card a little until it reflects the light to give the effect you require.
